Getting started!

It’s easy – all you need is a good will and some basic equipment!

Equipment for the horse:

All we need is head collar and lead rope, and safety boots if the horse needs them. We don’t use any kind of bits or whips. Any headcollar would do as long as it was suitable for the horse in design and size. We need long ropes so the horse is able to move freely,¬† between 10 and 15 feet in length is ideal.

Equipment for the handler:

The handler should be dressed suitably and safely  to be around horses. We suggest good shoes and gloves. To wear a hard hat or not has got to be the responsibility of the handler. In official competitions hard hats must be worn but you must decide whether a hard hat is needed to handle your horse safely on the ground.
